David Hanekom

Dr. David Hanekom has served as the Chief Medical Officer for Quartz Health Solutions since September 2021.  

Dr. Hanekom has clinical training and clinical practice in multiple countries and practice venues.  David is board certified in internal medicine, Family medicine and in hospice and palliative care, David views (his) education as a passport to freedom and choice.

Dr. Hanekom has had leadership positions in clinically-integrated networks (CINs), health plans, technology companies that has allowed him to support and enable delivery system transformation through a collaborative stakeholder approach.  David was instrumental in developing Population Health Management (PHM) analytic and reporting platforms, still used by multiple health plans.   He most recently served as the CEO of the Arizona Care Network where he created a high-performing Accountable Care organization (ACO) that was recognized as one of top ACO’s nationally.

Dr. Hanekom earned his medical degree at the University of the Witwatersrand School of Medicine and Health Sciences.   He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences and his postgraduate training in family medicine at the University of Limpopo.
