Dr. Rahul Rajkumar, MD, JD, FACP, is the President and CEO of Accompany Health, a company that provides home based and virtual care to high-risk Medicaid patients.
Prior to that, he was chief operating officer of Optum Care Solutions, part of OptumHealth, which serves 99 million individuals across the United States and is focused on reinventing care delivery and advancing whole health and health equity.
In his role at Optum, part of UnitedHealth Group, Dr. Rajkumar saw special projects for a portfolio of care continuum businesses serving tens of millions of people across acute and post-acute care, care in-person and virtually in the home, mental and behavioral care services and delivery, broad population and complex disease health management, specialty care, and government health services - serving Medicare, Medicaid, Dual-eligible, Commercial, and Veterans Administration members. He helped to create seamless, integrated solutions to provide whole-person care — mental, physical and social — and to drive better quality, exceptional experience, and lower costs.
Prior to that, Dr. Rajkumar was SVP/Chief Medical Officer at CareFirst and then at Blue Cross North Carolina, where he lead network strategy, quality, pharmacy, and clinical operations.
Dr. Rajkumar earned his MD from Yale University School of Medicine, a JD from Yale College of Law. He completed his residency at Harvard Medical School/Brigham and Women’s Hospital and is board-certified in Internal Medicine.
As an attending physician in the Department of Internal Medicine at Duke University Hospital, he is responsible for patient care on an academic inpatient service, supervision and teaching of residents, interns and medical students.
