Robert Groves
A trusted healthcare technology leader, Robert Groves, MD has brought his unique style of energetic leadership to the world of health and care in a career that has spanned four decades. He has led initiatives to use technology to improve care, whether by developing virtual care and telehealth CU programs for some of the largest providers in the United States, leading corporate strategy for an innovative new payer, or advising some of the world’s leading software brands on clinical engagement strategy. He is a published author, speaker, advisor, and creator of “The Groves Connection,” a movement and podcast centered around changing healthcare to one that’s more sustainable, inclusive, and beneficial for all.
Dr. Groves currently serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for Banner|Aetna, a unique health insurance plan borne out of a collaboration between the two healthcare leaders, where he oversees corporate strategy and the organization’s physician leaders. He also serves as an advisor to Microsoft, CareCentra, and the Health Management Academy. Dr.Groves is a graduate of Center College of Kentucky (BS, Chemistry) and the Medical College of Georgia (MD) and completed his medical training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, with two fellowships at the University of Alabama Birmingham Medical Center. He is a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians. Dr. Groves lives in Phoenix with his wife, Elizabeth.
